Forté is what ChiaoGoo makes when it stops being practical and starts being indulgent, the top of the line for knitters who already reach for ChiaoGoo first.

This set includes fourteen pairs of 5 in tips, and none of them are filler: eight small sizes in stainless steel with carbon fiber, six large sizes in stainless steel with African Blackwood. The small tips stay light and slim through hours of sock and lace knitting, while the large ones carry the warmth and weight of real wood for bulky knitting. Every join is laser etched with its size, so the marking never rubs off.

The cables are ChiaoGoo's newest design. Silver SWIV360 cables are memory free with no coiling and no hot water tricks, and they swivel so the work turns freely instead of fighting the cord. Three red TWIST cables with an S join are included as well, for a classic feel at fine gauge. Nine cables across three lengths, in both join sizes, cover most circumferences a pattern could ask for. With tips attached, the cables make circulars of 60 cm / 24 in, 80 cm / 32 in and 100 cm / 40 in.

The case opens like a book, with a double sided removable needle board that holds all fourteen pairs in place, a magnetic strip, elastic loops for notions, four pockets for patterns, a full zipper, and a small metal tin for the smallest tools. The case is made from REACH compliant man made material.

A set like this makes sense as a first serious investment in interchangeable needles, and just as much sense as the set many knitters finally choose after years with something simpler.
