Silk is the odd one out: not a short fibre spun into yarn but a continuous filament, unwound from the cocoon in threads hundreds of metres long. Nothing sticks out, so nothing prickles — softness here has nothing to do with micron count.
It is stronger than steel by weight, takes dye with a depth no other fibre matches, and cools rather than insulates. Blended, silk adds sheen, drape and strength while cutting the fuzziness of wool. On cones, wound to order from 50 grams up. For silk on its own, see our 100% silk.
