A single cashmere goat gives around 150 grams of usable fibre a year, combed from its winter undercoat — which is most of the answer to why it costs what it does. Finer than human hair, it insulates without weight and regulates temperature rather than just trapping heat.
Cashmere is worth knitting alone, and even a small percentage lifts merino, silk or cotton. On cones, wound to order from 50 grams up. For nothing but the fibre itself, see our 100% cashmere.
